GARRY R. BROWN, Founder & Managing Partner: Merchant Banking / Corporate Finance
Mr. Brown is a Founder of Corsair Merchant Partners, Corsair Merchant Partners Group & Corsair Advisory Partners Group, a trio of merchant banking and corporate finance advisory firms. He was previously the Founder and Managing Partner of Brown Capital Partners, a specialized and dedicated boutique advisory firm based in NYC. Prior to establishing Corsair & BCP, Mr. Brown was an Investment Banker for Citicorp Securities, Inc. in the Media/Communications, Branded Consumer and Structured Finance Groups where he worked on many corporate finance, m&a and corporate restructuring transactions. Mr. Brown is a graduate of the highly intense and highly acclaimed internal global bank training program known as “The Institute”. Prior to Citicorp, Mr. Brown was a Senior Advisor with Ridgewood Partners Ltd., a boutique investment bank specializing in cross-border capital raising and strategic acquisitions. Mr. Brown began his career with Prudential-Bache Securities in 1983 as an Assistant Bond Trader. In 1987 he joined Moody’s Investors Service as an Associate serving in both the Corporate and Structured Finance Divisions where he performed default rate research and analysis for its widely published debt securitization study. In 1990 Mr. Brown joined Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, a premier mergers & acquisitions/securities law firm. As an M&A Legal Assistant Mr. Brown worked on many high profile hostile takeover and m&a transactions. Mr. Brown received his MBA in Corporate Finance from Fordham University in 1988. A Corporate Growth Fellow and Graduate Assistant, Mr. Brown received his BS in Strategic Planning from the New York Institute of Technology (Old Westbury) in 1983 where he earned Dean’s List Honors. Mr. Brown is based in New York City.
